How About a Little…Time Travel?

How About a Little…Time Travel?
Categories Happiness

Sometimes, your next big adventure isn’t any further than your local park. So when opportunity comes knocking, you should never turn down the chance get out and enjoy your own city.

I’m a 90’s child and a big fan of nostalgia.

There were some pretty epic bands during my childhood like – you know – Smashmouth and Sugar Ray (insert eye roll, your own nostalgic laugh, whatever feels natural to you).  So imagine my excitement when I learned that they were coming to the town I lived in and playing at a free concert.

Thank goodness for my roommate at the time or I wouldn’t have ever known about this potential throwback moment.

While this post isn’t directly about traveling or hosting travelers, I felt it was necessary to include.  After all, if you aren’t taking full advantage of all the free opportunities your city provides, corny outings your friends suggest or doing something every day that makes you happy – something that transports your mind and mood to a new place – then you aren’t truly living the world.  And then shame on you.

The whole event was about feeling free-spirited.  We danced in the middle of the day when no one else was, belted out songs that will forever be synonymous with Shrek, took pictures with strangers and shared food with new friends because it was the right thing to do.

We were happy. Which sounds simple, but sometimes you’ve just got to remind yourself to choose happiness.

We all want to travel.  We all dream of exotic places.  We look forward to vacations, and we should.  But what about in-between those moments?  Most people don’t travel the world full-time (if you are considering giving the nomad life a try, though, here’s some tips).

For everyone else, amidst the work, school and other obligations, when the daily grind is really getting to you, remember to stop and make yourself happy – for a weekend, a day, or just a moment.

Call a babysitter, call your friends, and just be free for a second. Even if your moment of freedom is just walking out your front door for some fresh air and a big stretch. There’s always something going on around you; odds are, there are others who want to go, too. And don’t be ashamed to relive the glory days every once in a while when you get the chance – because why the hell not?

What have you done lately that brought out your inner child, helped you unwind or just brought you that moment of extreme bliss and happiness? Share it here and spread the good vibes.

      About Me

      Photo I'm Averi!
      I'm Averi!

      Bicycle Explorer. Curious Mind.

I've known for awhile now I want to embark on a bike ride of epic proportions. I've known for even longer that I want to do something meaningful with life, something that really impacts people.

      So, where do I begin?

      1. Figure out what it takes to bicycle around the world - gear, routes, bicycles, etc.

      2. Spread happiness wherever I go.

I'm not sure where exactly this will take me, but I do know this: I want to focus on the human experience - giving words to other people's stories & helping them in a way that benefits them, with no expectation of anything in return.

I want to bicycle and ask one simple question of people: What's your bliss?

This is my little project in this big world. Thank you for being a part of it.

      Never miss an adventure
