(Mis)Adventures While Cycling the Pacific Coast Highway – Alternate Route

(Mis)Adventures While Cycling the Pacific Coast Highway – Alternate Route

Or, the other title I considered: Nothing Went Right on our Pacific Coast Tour (and it was still perfect). So this is a personal memoir turned route list turned alternate route suggestion for anyone looking to cycle the famed Pacific

What If We All “Left No Trace?”

What If We All “Left No Trace?”

There’s one thing that keeps showing up over and over in my outdoor experiences: trash. Most recently, I saw littered beaches (both from people not picking up after themselves and from trash washing up in the waves) along the Pacific Coast

Sun-Powered Cooking for your Next Weekend Car Camp

A while back, I decided to check out a workshop on solar cooking, thinking I might pick up a thing or two for future bicycle and backpacking trips (I also shared this post, here). In my head, I think I

          31 Nights. 31 Campsites.

I was skimming through Backpacker earlier this month, pulling out pictures I could use for my dream board (yes, I’m 6 months late getting that done, and yes, there are A LOT of pictures of camping and traveling on there), when

A Day in the Life of a Desert Explorer

A Day in the Life of a Desert Explorer

I recently found myself with a day to spare and an urge to explore the desert. So, I loaded up the car with my weekend gear and favorite friends, and we headed to Joshua Tree National Park to see what

Cold and Alone: Independence and the Kindness of Strangers

Brandi and I recently connected on Instagram, where she shared her story of the first solo travel she ever did. As a fellow freelance writer and nomad with an affinity for wood smoke and the open road, I knew we

Urban Camping: A San Diego Cycling Adventure

Urban Camping: A San Diego Cycling Adventure

At the turn of the New Year, I declared 2016 the year of ‘doing.’ Of approaching life with a no hands-barred attitude. Instead of just talking about some great adventures, I’d be the one out there breathing the fresh air,

5 Cycling Adventures I Want to Take This Year

5 Cycling Adventures I Want to Take This Year

A new year always welcomes the prospect of brand-new adventures and a fresh start. Whether you want to get in shape, start a new hobby or just spend more time on yourself, the possibilities are endless and the future is

                  About Me

                  Photo I'm Averi!
                  I'm Averi!

                  Bicycle Explorer. Curious Mind.

I've known for awhile now I want to embark on a bike ride of epic proportions. I've known for even longer that I want to do something meaningful with life, something that really impacts people.

                  So, where do I begin?

                  1. Figure out what it takes to bicycle around the world - gear, routes, bicycles, etc.

                  2. Spread happiness wherever I go.

I'm not sure where exactly this will take me, but I do know this: I want to focus on the human experience - giving words to other people's stories & helping them in a way that benefits them, with no expectation of anything in return.

I want to bicycle and ask one simple question of people: What's your bliss?

This is my little project in this big world. Thank you for being a part of it.

                  Never miss an adventure
